My friend Tim has recently launched a kickstarter campaign to raise money to record his first solo record. Naturally he needed photos to make a splash, so this is what we came up with. Thank you Castros Back Room for the use of your ever amazing space. I wish every restaurant and watering hole in downtown Manchester could have a spec of your character.

There is something about January that has the ladies turning their attention to boudoir photography. In an attempt to accommodate several of my fancy lady clients, I am hosting a bombshell extravaganza– stocked with champagne and chocolate and the best stylists to get you drop-dead gorgeous.

False eyelashes you ask? Why, yes, yes of course.

This year’s Bombshell Weekend will be hosted at this sultry hotel, Boston in a luxurious corner king suite.

Read on for details, but know this: it is so much fun that you will want to do it again as soon as it’s over.

Introducing (the new) Salon Bogar

Interior design is one of my favorite things to obsess over, so naturally photographing well executed interior design is too. Salon Bogar, in Londonderry recently got a facelift and they called me in to photograph their new, ultra fabulous space! Over the past 6 months the salon was transformed to something that wows, and all without closing for one day. That is impressive.

Congratulations to the lovely staff at Bogar! The space looks and feels incredible!

Love & Grit: A Fashion Story

Manchester New Hampshire definitely has a grungy side. Using the city as inspiration I created this shoot to reflect the tough and often hopeless character of the city with a sexy and estranged, fashion edge. This gorgeous couple is shown in classic black & white at a downtown laundromat and nearby bodega.

Engagment Shoot at Searles Castle

Here’s a winter engagement session at another castle. What a great way to incorporate a photo shoot at a place you love but is not available on your wedding date.

The grounds at Searles are lovely and we had a lot of fun trying many different poses. The bride-to-be also had her hair blown out and styled which always makes for better pictures.

Cupcakes and ATM’s

I sat down and watched Cupcake Wars this week and while I think the judges take themselves a tad too seriously, some of the contestants are exceptional and make the most beautiful, creative cupcakes ever.
I was inspired by the announcement that Sprinkles Cupcakes in LA announced the first ever cupcake ATM. Yes it’s true. What a reminder that anything is possible with imagination and ingenuity.

Finding Love in Print Fulfilment

I get filled with excitement when print orders finally arrive. Especially when they are big prints. The routine goes like this- I am working in my office with the dogs asleep under my feet. They are suddenly stirred awake and walk to look out the kitchen door. A few moments later I hear the UPS truck backing up to my house, a few light footsteps running up the porch and a few taps on the door.

Regardless of what I am doing, I take the package, run into my house, grab a pair of scissors or my car keys if they are closer, and quickly slice open the cardboard packaging.

I am very careful to unwrap the padding and cut off the tape so as not to damage the print and if it’s framed like today, I pick it up in my arms and nearly hug it. I examine every fine detail close up and from afar.

And even hang it in a couple of places around the house to see what it looks like in different light. This new addition is a 16×16″ framed metallic print in a flat face white frame. I skipped the matting here because I think it looks more modern.

Costa Rica on Film

I visited Costa Rica in January and decided to pull out my old Nikon Fm3a film camera for the journey. And I am so glad I did! I shot three rolls- one tungsten (they are more blue in color) and two color rolls at ISO400 and ISO800, that had long expired.

The results are dreamy with soft highlight detail and beautiful depth of field. The boat image below was shot at sunset with 800 speed film and has mesmerizing grain that only film can actualize. They say that digital photography has come so far but there is really nothing like the film. It’s soft and quiet and tactile. Almost humble. My trip only lasted for two weeks but I will treasure these images for a lifetime.

Low Light and Relaxation: Yes Please!

I had the pleasure of doing a trade with a dear friend who is an Ayurvedic practitioner and massage therapist. I photographed her in her studio as she worked on a few clients and in return she gave me two hours of bodywork. My session was a blend of deep tissue and Thai massage. Thai massage is one of my favorite treats ever because it allows your entire body to be stretched and stretched as you are being massaged. This was two of the most relaxing hours of my life so if you live in the Boston area and are looking for a bit of rejuvenation at the end of winter, check out Samadhi in Newton and book an appointment with Natalie. Your body will thank you.

Debut of Cloud 9 Cupcakes

There is a new cupcake in town! And boy is she sweet. This new cupcakery is just getting off the ground with mouthwatering recipes, a logo in the works, and now photography. If you could only taste the them by looking at their pictures. Trust me, they are divine and will have you on cloud nine.

One sweet a day keeps the doctor away. Or something like that.
