Low Light and Relaxation: Yes Please!

February 28th, 2012 by Tanya | Comments Off | Filed in Portraits

I had the pleasure of doing a trade with a dear friend who is an Ayurvedic practitioner and massage therapist. I photographed her in her studio as she worked on a few clients and in return she gave me two hours of bodywork. My session was a blend of deep tissue and Thai massage. Thai massage is one of my favorite treats ever because it allows your entire body to be stretched and stretched as you are being massaged. This was two of the most relaxing hours of my life so if you live in the Boston area and are looking for a bit of rejuvenation at the end of winter, check out Samadhi in Newton and book an appointment with Natalie. Your body will thank you.

Warm Holiday Sparkle

December 20th, 2011 by Tanya | Comments Off | Filed in Events, Inspiration, Interior Design, Weddings

There is a new (and fabulous!) wedding venue that recently opened called the River Mill at Dover Landing. It’s located in one of the mill buildings in downtown Dover, NH, which from what I can tell, seems to be a creative enclave sprinkled with engaged University students. This mill venue is super appealing because, heck yes, I fantasize about living in a loft, however unpractical they may be. The creators of River Mill did a fantastic job restoring the mill and keeping it simple so that patrons can deck it out to their liking. With exposed brick walls, soaring ceilings, hanging industrial pendant lighting and wood flooring, it’s the only large capacity venue of it’s kind in the state.

Special thanks to Kate Parker Weddings for the understated and festive holiday decor.

Wed High Atop a Mountain

October 19th, 2011 by Tanya | Comments Off | Filed in Weddings

One of the best parts about being a wedding photographer is that each location is different. I’ve found myself on boats, on horse drawn carriages, in limos, and stopping traffic walking through downtown Boston. This wedding however, may take the wedding cake, so to speak. It was at the top of Mount Sunapee in northern New Hampshire, so yes indeed, we all got chair lifted up.

As you will see, another unique part of this celebration was that the bride and groom wore sashes for their formal photos before the ceremony. As the tradition goes, they didn’t want to see each other. They got them on Etsy in case your interested.

Congratulations Katie and Keith!

A New England Wedding in October

October 5th, 2011 by Tanya | 1 Comment | Filed in Weddings

Fall in New England is the best, minus the fact that it means Winter will be here soon. It’s the busiest season of the year for wedding photography (hint hint, book early!) The colors are lovely and the temperature is cool and dry. Heather and Adam were married on a dock overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee and had their reception at an old train station decked out with twinkling white lights and paper lanterns. Their colors were perfection for this time of year- brown, deep purple and orange.

Congratulations Heather and Adam!

Getting Social– Boston, MA

June 24th, 2011 by Tanya | Comments Off | Filed in Events, Inspiration

Here are a few images from The Back Bay Social Club in downtown Boston. They have a dimly lit, spacious function room hidden away downstairs where I photographed a rehearsal dinner for this bride and groom. I would love a smaller scale, vintage sign like the one pictured on the right, for my living room.
