For Your Sweet Tooth: Wedding Cake Round Up

January 4th, 2012 by Tanya | Comments Off | Filed in Inspiration, Weddings

I shoot a lot of weddings throughout New England and get to see so many beautiful cakes, and more recently, a lot of cupcakes and whoopie pies, on my travels. Here’s a round up of a few of my favorite cakes and cupcakes for your sweet tooth. (I know it’s early in the New Year but we can at least look.)

Stylish Wedding in New London, NH

December 28th, 2011 by Tanya | Comments Off | Filed in Weddings

Of all the weddings I have photographed throughout New England, the grounds of the New London Historical Society are the most beautiful. They have a series of small historical store fronts, several gorgeous old barns and the most beautiful lawn and aging crab apple trees ever.

Sharing a few of my favorite moments from this fine wedding celebration. Congratulations Grace and Ryan! It was an immense joy to be a part of your amazing day.

Warm Holiday Sparkle

December 20th, 2011 by Tanya | Comments Off | Filed in Events, Inspiration, Interior Design, Weddings

There is a new (and fabulous!) wedding venue that recently opened called the River Mill at Dover Landing. It’s located in one of the mill buildings in downtown Dover, NH, which from what I can tell, seems to be a creative enclave sprinkled with engaged University students. This mill venue is super appealing because, heck yes, I fantasize about living in a loft, however unpractical they may be. The creators of River Mill did a fantastic job restoring the mill and keeping it simple so that patrons can deck it out to their liking. With exposed brick walls, soaring ceilings, hanging industrial pendant lighting and wood flooring, it’s the only large capacity venue of it’s kind in the state.

Special thanks to Kate Parker Weddings for the understated and festive holiday decor.

Wed High Atop a Mountain

October 19th, 2011 by Tanya | Comments Off | Filed in Weddings

One of the best parts about being a wedding photographer is that each location is different. I’ve found myself on boats, on horse drawn carriages, in limos, and stopping traffic walking through downtown Boston. This wedding however, may take the wedding cake, so to speak. It was at the top of Mount Sunapee in northern New Hampshire, so yes indeed, we all got chair lifted up.

As you will see, another unique part of this celebration was that the bride and groom wore sashes for their formal photos before the ceremony. As the tradition goes, they didn’t want to see each other. They got them on Etsy in case your interested.

Congratulations Katie and Keith!

A New England Wedding in October

October 5th, 2011 by Tanya | 1 Comment | Filed in Weddings

Fall in New England is the best, minus the fact that it means Winter will be here soon. It’s the busiest season of the year for wedding photography (hint hint, book early!) The colors are lovely and the temperature is cool and dry. Heather and Adam were married on a dock overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee and had their reception at an old train station decked out with twinkling white lights and paper lanterns. Their colors were perfection for this time of year- brown, deep purple and orange.

Congratulations Heather and Adam!

Styling a NH Countryside Wedding

September 11th, 2011 by Tanya | 1 Comment | Filed in Inspiration, Weddings

If you’re looking for inspiration for a detailed, but not-too-fussy backyard wedding, you’re in luck! Ellen and Bill were married in July and put together oodles of wonderful ideas for their unique celebration. To start, their popsickle-shaped wedding programs doubled as fans for that sticky July day. Refreshing, right?

Their tent was outfitted with hand-stitched, yellow cotton flags and table runners and the tables were adorned with bunches of wild flowers. As a snack before serving a BBQ dinner of ribs, brisket and cornbread, Ellen and Bill offered their guests old-fashioned popping corn in paper bags.

The activities were plentiful with throwback games including bocce, a bean bag toss, and croquet, and a custom built photo station that offered mustache props, cowboy hats and the like. Rather than a layered cake, they opted for the more simple whoopee pie. The bride wore a casual, white cotton, summer dress with a pair of fabulous colorful heels.

Inspired? I certainly was.

Thank you, Ellen and Bill, for being so creative and fun. It was a pleasure snapping your wedding photographs.

Your Photos, Framed

August 25th, 2011 by Tanya | 1 Comment | Filed in Products

Here are two framed prints I recently made for clients.  Protect your prints from sun damage and decorate your home! My favorite framing option is the modern, flat front white frame with white matte shown below, but there are infinite options. I love the idea of creating a gallery wall in your home to showcase family photographs through the years. Children grow fast and it’s charming to see a collection of their evolution. It reminds me of Nicholas Nixon’s portrait series of his wife and sisters. If you get the opportunity, see this series assembled as one collection.

DIY Wedding Inspiration- Wilton, NH

August 19th, 2011 by Tanya | Comments Off | Filed in Inspiration, Weddings

Today I took on the mammoth task of going through my entire collection of wedding photography in order to update my website (which, by the way, has been patiently waiting for an update since Spring.) In the process, I came across the glorious couple pictured below who had so many creative DIY ideas for their wedding day. I share with you the beautiful ‘love tree’ they created, made with two small trees, vintage looking fabric flags and their favorite photos. It served as the backdrop for their sweetheart table. Awesome idea lovely people!
